Dutch paedophile priests

Once again a post about paedophile Priests, on new reports just out about Holland and Belgium.

An independent Dutch inquiry into child sexual abuse committed by Catholic priests said it found “tens of thousands” of victims since 1945, identifying 800 alleged perpetrators ( Priests ).

Tens of thousands of children were exposed to “mild, severe or very severe sexual behaviour” by clergy or lay workers in the Dutch Catholic Church over a 65-year period between 1945 and 2010, the commission said in its final report.

Most were priests, but the figure also includes lay workers. “Of these 800people, at least 105 are still alive.”

Claims of alleged sexual abuse examined by the inquiry went from “light physical contact to penetration.

What did the Catholic Church say.

Based on an examination of Church archives, the problem of sexual abuse had been “on the agenda of episcopal meetings” since the 1940s.

The Dutch Catholic Church knew what was happening and tried to resolve the problem, but the appropriate actions were never taken.

A taboo on discussing sexuality in society until the 1960s and the Catholic Church’s “closed” administrative structure were in part responsible for religious authorities’ passive response to the problem.

The Dutch bishops conference said that “many more steps have to follow” in the wake of the report, including “clear codes of conduct and prevention programmes” in the training of priests.

The Catholic Church has been rocked by revelations of widespread sexual abuse of children in several countries in recent years, including the United States, Germany, Ireland, Belgium and Austria.

In 2004, a criminal inquiry established there were 4,400 paedophile priests in the United States between 1950 and 2002, putting the number of their child victims at 11,000.

Ireland, one of the most staunchly Catholic countries in Europe, has seen a series of crises, leading Pope Benedict XVI to publicly rebuke its bishops for a “breakdown of trust”.

A total of 14,500 Irish children are reported to have been victims of abuse by Priests.

What is the Catholic Church doing.

Offering people compensation and its not very much, and where are the Priests certainly not in jail serving a long sentance.

This may not be my last post on this subject, as these scum bag Priests are being found everywhere.

  1. … and let’s not forget of the other “friendly” figures of trust, that did the same thing to innocent kids … like scout leaders, teachers, even barbers and dentists …if your child is suddenly acting up or shutting up – there is somthing up, and has to be investigated right away. It’s a painful task, I went through that with my daughter years back. Thanks to early intervention she is a happy and well adjusted woman now … and I have peace of heart. Love, cat.

  2. I’m very glad to hear that its all come good for her in the end with no lasting harm done.

  3. I’m not Catholic, so am an “outsider”, but IMHO the Catholic church should do away with celibacy for priests. As it is, the priesthood seems to be a haven for pedophiles. This betrays the trust of church members. So sad.

  4. This is one of the reasons I have no time for religion – it is a man made institution that is full of insane rules and often a lot of insane people who use their power base to abuse the young and vulnerable…

  5. Those priests are scums of the earth. They act all high and mighty and they indulge in the lowest of acts!! Detestable!!

  6. Amor24, they are indeed the lowest of the low.

  7. I love your idea of a religion started by women. The creed would be simple I think: Do unto others as you would have them do unto your children.
    You are onto something here!

  8. In the sixties, people didn’t care if children were abused sexuallly. It was part of life and always your own fault. I hope things have changed, in the church and outside.
ps I always thought Christianity started with a lie ( a virgin giving birth? How silly can you be about sex?) and I do hope the Vatican will pay to the victims. They have money enough.

  9. In my limited experience (I live there at the moment) the Dutch are good at being wise (long) after the event, but very bad at supervising or controlling events at the time. I’m not just talking about the Catholic Church here, but about many facets of life in the country. But I dare say the Catholics are, in general, no worse than the rest of the population, though their priests sometimes seem a particularly bizarre lot.

  10. I believe these priests are troubled and need help, not hiding or bailing out. The Church is hurting so many people by trying to protect itself. The leadership has failed miserably on this one for sure. But look at the history of the Catholic Church as an institution. their historical record–the Inquisition, Witch Burning, not taking a stand against the Nazis,… Not good. I know that individual parishes do good work, but the leadership is where I find it hard to reconcile the message of the religion with the practice of it.

  11. Well, i think it’s time for the priest to allow them get married. just my thought. 🙂

  12. It is more than priests and churches; it is also sports coaches, teachers, anyone with authority and time on their hands, that are abusing children because of their vulnerability and sometimes lack of oversight by adults in their life.
This is where good parenting and watching our children like hawks, comes into place. The old “village” watching out for the safety of children would not hurt either.

  13. Marcia, the paedophiles are every where and it must be hard to catch them unless they are reported.

  14. hahaha.. i read it.. poor monk because of this mispelled word they suffered the rest of their life.. 🙂

  15. I personally believe that sexual abuse statistics in any arena are seriously skewed (under-reported, under-recognized) and that writing articles like these to promote awareness is the only tool we have to protect our children.

  16. Sure charges agianst Catholic clergy make great headlines –reassuring the rest of us that we’re not so bad after all. Did you know that the Boy Scouts of America have had to expell many thousands of adult male scoutmasters over the years because of sexual abuse charges? And what about incest? The figures are even more shocking. And those twin brother pediatrician pedoophiles from the US–very brief blip on the media radar–but had they been catholic priests… And icest, I’ll wager that for every one Catholic bishop who kept his mouth shut when he suspected there was abuse going on, there are hundreds or even thousands of mothers who continue to keep quiet, or even blame the victin when they KNOW there’s abuse in their own family. The Catholic Church is the only institutuin trying to stand in the way of married pedophiles from adopting and raisin sons in the ways of their ‘church’!

  17. Alex thanks for your visit and i hope you return.
The things you talk about are everywhere, in every organisation and country.
Just like the coach of a USA Uni, everyone knows about him, but nothing has been done to jail him, infect the child’s parents are under threat not to press charges.

  18. Harry the Bshops are at the heart of all this abuse of children ,the reason they just move the evil bastards onto fields afar were they are not as well known, to continue the paedophile activity ! may they roast in hell

    • Indeed, i have many posts about them and i’m waiting on the outcome of another hearing about them, the Vatican are the ones to blame with their heads stuck up their arse’s.

I appreciate any comments you leave, and thank you for reading my posts and please call back again.
