Cremation cost at Roselawn Cemetery in Belfast to rise by 25%

The cost of dying is to increase this year by a massive amount  at the crematorium in Belfast. Northern Ireland has only one crematorium which has been completely re-furbished with two more furnaces up to a total of four.

They have had to open early and close later to cope with the increase of customers  since it was built 20 years ago. The Northern Ireland Assembly are going to build a new one 20 miles away in the town of Moira , and also another on the other side of Belfast ( where i live ) so that’s handy.

A forth is being thought about in the City of Omagh, County Tyrone

The council currently charges £198 for an adult cremation at Roselawn, but from 1 April this is set to rise to £248.

For cremating a child under 16, they charge £112 at the moment. This is going to rise to £140.

The cost of cremations for people from outside Belfast is already higher, but these charges are also rising by 10%.

For instance, it costs £437 for an adult living outside Belfast to be cremated there at present, but this is rising to £480.

The Department for Social Development operates a funeral payment grant from the Social Fund to help people pay for funeral costs

People who are on a range of benefits and tax credits can apply for the grant

In 2011, 1,711 funeral payments were paid out and the average grant was £995

The committee decided to recommend that most charges for burials and graves would rise by between 4% and 6%.   So no matter how you are being buried it will cost more. And for people who have no insurance or saving this is going to be very hard to find.

A charge for plastic bags.

Northern Ireland are bringing in a tax on plastic bags, which i think its long overdue and its about time this happened.

The tax will start in April 2013 and will either be 5p or 10p per bag and will go up to 15p per bag in 2014. They are also taking about making it 15p from the start, which i would favour.

In Northern Ireland there are 200 million plastic bags used every year, and i think it takes something like 100 years for them to degrade.

Also in April 2013 Wales are going to charge 5p per bag and this will go up to 10p the following year.

England and Scotland do not plan any charge as yet.

The Irish Republic have had the charge for about 10 years and its set at 22cents about 20p per bag, and they have seen the total bag count drop by over 50%.

What is happening  in the country where you live are they doing anything about this matter ?

People go shopping and instead of buying ” green bags ” which are very cheap and replaced free, they would rather use 10 – 15 bags or more, were-as  2 or 3 ” green bags ” would hold the shopping.

I have seen many people go into a shop for 1 or 2 items and ask for a bag, then they walk to a car and go home, they did not need a bag.

World’s fattest man is revealed to be British and weighs 58 stone.

Whitney Houston dies aged 48

She will be sadly missed, i thought she was a wonderful singer with a very clear voice and a large vocal range when she sang, also you could always understand all the words of the song as she was singing.

A unique singer with a beautiful voice, who has been the top-selling artist for many years has died alone in her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton.

She was found by a member of the singer’s entourage found her in her hotel room and he called hotel security, who called for an ambulance. Paramedics tried CPR, but Whitney was pronounced dead at 3.55pm.

The singer was reportedly found in the bathtub. No illegal drugs have been found in the room, but prescription drugs have been.

She sang in Belfast twice and tickets were sold out within an hour.

I think she started to go downhill when she married Bobby Brown, and started to use crack and other drugs.

Reports and recent photos on TV show that she has changed so much and her voice was not the same as is was when she was singing.

Three Men Jailed Over Gay Hate Leaflets.

Three Muslim men have been jailed for handing out leaflets calling for gay people to be killed.

In a “landmark case last month“, Ihjaz Ali age 42, Kabir Ahmed age 28 and Razwan Javed age 28, were found guilty of breaching hate crime legislation by distributing the leaflets outside a mosque and posting them through letterboxes in the Normanton area of Derby.

Ali was sentenced to two years in prison at Derby Crown Court, while Ahmed and Javed were jailed for 15 months. Two other men, Mehboob Hussain age 45 and Umar Javed age 38, were previously acquitted of the same charge.
The men admitted distributing the flyers but claimed they were “not threatening” and denied they were designed to cause trouble for homosexuals

The leaflet stated that in 1533 homosexuality was punishable by hanging in England and that if practised in a town, “Allah permits its ( the towns ) destruction”.

One man, who did not want to be named, told Sky News: “They incite violence and I would even say it’s incitement to murder.

“It lists various methods of executing homosexuals from burning alive, stoning, hanging or being thrown from a tall building and I felt that was directed at me.

“My initial thoughts were that I was actually being targeted by an individual, it really was quite frightening. It’s a very, very scary image especially when you realise what the message is,” he said.

He also said other leaflets were also given out.

“Another was titled ‘Turn or Burn’ and the front of it was an image of a sea of fire,” he said.

“But more disturbing was the reverse side, where there was the picture apparently of a human body burning in flames.”

Another man said: “It happened 18 months ago and I’m still feeling very insecure in my own house. I’m suspicious of strangers on the street, strange cars.

“I really avoid going out after dark because I never know when somebody is going to respond to a leaflet by possibly attacking me.

“Apart from the cultural and religious aspects of it, I feel there are some gullible people in the wider community who will read literature like that and take it as a green light to commit violence.”

On the sixth day, God turned to Archangel Gabriel and said, “Today I am going to create a land called Canada.

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “don’t you think you are being too generous to these Canadians??”

“Not really,” replied God.. “Just wait and see the winters I am going to give them!”

Poem: A Terrifying Journey

We were setting off on our journey.
Which we all hoped we would enjoy.
Eagerly waiting,with tickets in hand.
To get on and then settle down.

Now at last our time had come.
We all moved forward to board.
Got to our seats and looked around.
Great, its time to get belted in.

A jolt and then we moved forward.
Then the climb went on for ages.
At last it leveled of at its height.
Everyone looked out at the views.

All of a sudden we were dropping.
Straight down at an alarming speed.
A lot of people were squealing.
While others were very quite.

Thankfully at last we climbed back up.
We leveled of and then another big drop.
This happened a few times more.
Some people looked sick and worried.

Down again and we stayed level this time.
And at last it started to slow.
Then we came to a shuddering halt.
At least we all knew we were safe.

We undid our belts and looked around.
Some people were being very sick.
Others were happy and laughing.
But, no more big dippers for me.

Police say that the gang usually is comprised of four members, one adult and three younger ones.

While the three younger ones, all appearing sweet and innocent, they divert their ‘mark’ (or intended target) with a show of friendliness , the fourth – the eldest — sneaks in from behind the person’s back to expertly rifle through his or her pockets and purses or bags for any valuables being carried.

Wife hit by a bus

This  guy was sitting at home alone when he hears a knock at the  door.

There  were two police officers there.

He  asked them “Is there a problem?”

One  of the police officers asked if he was married and the man says “yes.”

The officer asks if he could see a picture of his wife.

The  guy says “sure” and shows him a picture of his  wife.

The  officer says, “I’m sorry sir, but it looks like your wife’s been hit by a truck.”

The  guy says, “I know,  -  but she has a great personality, and she’s a good cook!

A gorgeous young redhead goes into the doctor’s office and said that her body hurt wherever she touched it.

“Impossible!” says the doctor. “Show me”.

“The redhead took her finger, pushed on her left wrist and screamed,then she pushed her elbow and screamed in even more.

She pushed her knee and screamed; likewise she pushed her ankle and screamed.

Everywhere she touched made her scream.

The doctor said, “You’re not really a redhead, are you?”

“Well, no” she said, “I’m actually a blonde.”

“I thought so,” the doctor said. “Your finger is broken”.

Billy arranges a Doctors appointment and when he goes to see the Doctor he tells the Doc he wants to be castrated.

Are you sure, asked the Doc. Yes I definitely want to be castrated Billy replies.

Have you discussed this with your wife,  asked the Doc.

Of course I have, we both think it would be a good idea.

Well if your absolutely sure, I’ll arrange for a hospital appointment, The Doc said.

In due course the hospital sent Billy an appointment date to have the procedure carried out.

Billy arrives at the hospital at 8.30 on the appointed day. He’s taken to the ward and told to change into his PJ’s and get into the bed.

About ten minutes later, the surgeon came to Billy’s bed to check that he hadn’t changed his mind about being castrated.

No, I still want it done, replied Billy.

After the operation Billy wakes up back in the ward.

The bloke in the bed next to him asks , What were you having done?

I was being castrated, Billy replies and asked ,What about yourself.

 I was being circumcised,  he said.

Oh bugger,  Billy said , that’s the word i wanted.

Great news, i am one of sixteen people who are in the final draw for one million pounds lottery win.

The letter arrived on Saturday morning and we have been over the moon ever since. So we are in the draw but its another thing to see if we are picked as winners.

So all we have to do now is fill in the form to claim the prize and fax it to a number, funny there’s no address.

This is a video of two drone pilots going through the procedure, tracking a car etc, before launching a missile to take the car and people out.

The University of North Dakota, graduated it’s first controllers this spring.

Three of the weapons and guidance system on the drones are products of Raytheon, it carries 6 bombs and two missiles, and you all know that the drone technology absolutely scares the crap out of the Taliban & Al Qaeda.

For non-pilots, these controllers are in Nevada and are each flying their own drone thousands of miles away in the combat zone in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Their left hand is on the throttle controlling the drone’s engine. Note all the buttons which perform various tasks without removing the hand from the throttle.

The right hand is flying the plane.

Me, my blog, what a lovely thing to say about it, makes me feel better already.

But my problem now is i enjoy so many of the blogs i’m linked to, its going to be hard to pick five out from them all.
