Holiday in Malta.

type102

I went for a week with my wife to Malta in February. The weather was great, warm and sunny about 63 during the day but can get cold at night.

But it was completely different to our past holidays spent in Spain and Portugal.

No music bars or karaoke bars, none of the usual shops you would see elsewhere, very little entertainment outside your  hotel.

Most cities and towns we visited had little or no entertainment for the holiday maker which i think is a missed opportunity for someone.

Obesity crisis looming in Briton.

type102Another report on the news and papers about obesity and its effects has just been aired. People do see and read about this, they also hear about it continually but they choose to ignore it.

I cannot understand anyone for what ever reason why they ignore the warnings about their own health and how it will effect their family.

2013 in review

type102The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 47,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 17 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Sandy Hook shooting one year on.

type102One year after 20 children and six teachers were gunned down in cold blood, has the average American remembered.Remembered the torment the families went through, the promises that were made about the gun laws and the changes that would follow. Well nothing has happened  since that day, in fact thing have got worse.

In 2013, an amazing 30,000 people were killed by guns, its an unbelievable number of people dead from gun crime etc, not forgetting all the family members involved.

While conducting some business   at the Courthouse, I overheard a lady,
Who had been arrested for assaulting a Mammogram Technician, say,
“Your Honor, I’m guilty but…..
there were extenuating circumstances.”

The female Judge said, sarcastically, “I’d certainly like to hear
Those extenuating circumstances.” I did too, soooo…… I listened as
The lady told her story.

“Your Honour, I had a mammogram appointment, which I actually kept.
I was met by this perky little clipboard carrier smiling from ear to
ear and she tilted her head to one side and crooned, “Hi! I’m Belinda!
All I need you to do is step into this room right here, strip to the
waist, then slip on this gown. Everything clear?”

I’m thinking, “Belinda, try decaf. This isn’t rocket science.”

{Dear Friends … it’s been a while, so here’s a re-post of a poem in honor of Halloween}

Twas all Hallows Eve and all through the house

I heard creepy noises could it be a mouse?

I checked all the rooms and down through the hall

Then I heard it tap tapping right through the wall

My heart filled with fright and I ran to the door

Ready to scream then I tripped on the floor

I lifted my head and out came a creature

It looked like a monster from some sci-fi feature

Light Up Rural India !

Originally posted on Poet's Corner:

We all are aware of the saying “Let there be Light”. Yes, as soon as the Sun goes down, there comes the danger of darkness. Light is the basic necessity of each Household. Imagine your Evening and Nights without the Lights. Yeah, I know that one can’t even imagine about this. But there are people in our very own Rural Areas of India, who not only have to imagine but also suffer from this Light Shortage. Their most basic activities at the home can’t be met with the need. In order to fight this obstacle, here is this Initiative “Light Up Rural India”. This is supposed to be achieved by distribution of Solar Lanterns which are eco as well as cost friendly.
