You will notice right away that with the 100% increase they are increasing the two smallest prizes by very little, while slashing two of the biggest prizes.
Camelot are to increase the charge for entering the lottery from £1 up to £2 a 100% rise. The prize for matching three numbers will rise from £10 to £25.
The winnings for matching four numbers will increase from £60 to £100.
However, the prize money for matching five numbers will drop from £1500 to £1,000.
The reward for getting five numbers and the bonus number will drop from £100,000 to £50,000. Lotto Rollover draws will also change, with the number of raffle prizes on offer increasing significantly with each roll of the jackpot.
Four years ago they cut the number of winning combinations by removing three of the medium prizes.
I for one will stop playing completely on a Wednesday ( two entries ) and only one entry on a Saturday, people can not afford to pay £2 ago for the lottery.

You would have thought they’d have made enough money!
I know and the charities are getting plenty, i know a few people who are cutting way back or stopping.
Sometimes enough is enough and I can’t understand why they are trying to fix something that was not broken…other than greed of course!
Boycott the buggers
I and my computer have both been receiving care and attention and I am pleased to say I can now read and comment again. Long may it last…….
Brilliant Roly and long may it continue.
I’m not a gambler, Harry, so I don’t play the lottery. Guess I’ll never get rich quick. But neither do most lottery players!
True, i have not won anything for about two years
Well, you’ll just have to take extra care to pick the right numbers so you get your money’s worth!
Thats the problem, you can never pick the right numbers
